This exhibition concept at Stapferhaus Lenzburg explores the complexity of human memory using the metaphor of a plant—growing, rooting, blooming, and wilting. It addresses three core questions: What are memories, how do they form, and why do they change?
Memories are not static; they are fragile and change every time we recall them. The exhibition explains the biological brain processes involved, showing how we constantly reconstruct, interpret, and adapt our past experiences based on our current knowledge.

The project highlights how closely memory and imagination are linked, often influenced by external cues like photographs or stories. Visitors are encouraged to challenge their own recollections of everyday situations to gain a deeper understanding of themselves.
The design utilizes an innovative AI workflow to transform sketches into 3D-depth animations. The experience is complemented by a publication, an audio guide, and a unique “scent-tree” ticket, leveraging the fact that smells are among our strongest memory triggers.
